BIO
Liang He(b. 2000 in Foshan, China) is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher, and gamer. He creates sculpture, installation, performance and cartography that intervene in social narratives, in space and time of games. His research focuses on political, spiritual, physical and technological violence, delving into discourse of domination surrounding drone, cyborg, and cold war bunker. His thought-stimulating practice employs technology to replicate anxiety concerning human subjectivity under capitalism. Coumter-balancing the anxious reality, he employs metaphocial defense and infuses research0based strategy to experiment and reconfigure the dynamics in social reality.
Liang He is currently pursuing MFA at the
School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) where he received his BFA degree
in studio art in 2022, and was awarded Presidential Merit Scholarship from 2018
to 2022. Residing in New York City for one year after undergraduate, he
participated in several group exhibitions, attended SVA summer residency, and
Kunstraum residency. In 2023, he won the Runner Up Prize during Evanston
Biennial. In 2024 Fall, he is going to exhibit in the Ars Eletronica festival
in Linz, Austria, and reside in Berlin to attend a 3-month residency at
Glogau-AIR. He has exhibited at Evanston Art Center, Gene Siskel Film Center,
A4 Art Museum, SVA Flatiron Gallery, and SAIC Galleries.
