BIO
Liang He is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher, and gamer. He creates sculpture, installation, performance and cartography that intervene in social narratives, in space and time of games. His research focuses on issues of political, spiritual, physical and technological violence, delving into discourse of domination surrounding drone, cyborg, and cold war bunker. Aiming to stimulate thought, his practice employs technology to replicate anxiety concerning human subjectivity in capital society. In search of a strategy for metaphorical defense towards the anxious reality, He often embark on a research journey, where he is able to experiment and reconfigure the dynamics in social reality.
Born in Foshan, China in 2000, Liang He received his BFA degree in studio art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago(SAIC) in 2022, where he is currently pursuing MFA at, and was awarded Presidential Merit Scholarship. Residing in New York City for one year after undergraduate, he participated in several group exhibitions, attended SVA summer residency, and Kunstraum residency. In 2023, he won the Runner Up Prize during Evanston Biennial. He has exhibited at Evanston Art Center, Gene Siskel Film Center, A4 Art Museum, SVA Flatiron Gallery, SAIC Galleries.
